Andrew Franz, 17, of Ridgefield Golf Course and Matt Bornstein, 17, of Silver Spring Country Club each won their semifinal match Wednesday afternoon to advance to the finals of the 75th Connecticut Junior Amateur.
The quarterfinals are set and only eight players remain with a chance to capture the 75th Connecticut Junior Amateur Championship at Watertown Golf Club presented by Cobra Puma Golf and Golf on the Green.
History of the Connecticut Junior Amateur Championship

The Connecticut Junior Amateur Championship presented by Cobra Puma Golf and Golf on the Green is open to all Connecticut junior golfers who have not reached their nineteenth birthday by the start of the event. The challenging format tests the state's best junior golfers over a single round of stroke play to determine the low thirty-two match play qualifiers. Two rounds of match play each day culminate in an eighteen-hole final to crown the top junior player in Connecticut.

The 2017 Connecticut Junior Amateur will be held at Watertown Golf Club for the sixty-second time, the most by any Connecticut club. Since 1952, Watertown Golf Club has hosted the Junior Amateur all but two years (1959 and 1978).

Course Set-Up: Watertown Golf Club will be set up at approximately 6,423 yards and will play to a par of 36-35--71.

– 18-Holes of stroke play Qualifying. The low 32 players will advance to match play.
Tuesday, July 11 – First and second round of match play
Wednesday, July 12 – Quarterfinals and semifinals
